Transfer rumours: Villa offered Barrenechea, Chelsea exit, Everton want Ndiaye

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Aston Villa being offered an alternative Juventus player and a youngster leaving Chelsea.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Aston Villa have reportedly been offered an alternative player by Juventus as they bid to wrap up the transfer of Douglas Luiz.

With Villa needing to generate funds in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, they are attempting to pull off a complex part-exchange deal with Juventus.

At one stage, it appeared that Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior would be moving in the opposite direction, but there have been issues over terms for the former.

As a result, Calciomercato claims that Villa have been offered the chance to sign Enzo Barrenechea, who is said to be keen to complete the move.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder made a total of 36 appearances for Frosinone last season, who narrowly missed out on remaining in Serie A.

However, he has accumulated just five outings for Juventus since joining from FC Sion in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have allowed midfielder Charlie Webster to complete a permanent transfer to Burton Albion.

The 20-year-old has just spent the season on loan at Heerenveen, making a total of two starts and 11 substitute outings in the Eredivisie.

Webster had been preparing to return to the academy system at Cobham, but he has been provided with an opportunity to reunite with a former coach at Burton Albion.

Mark Robinson, a recent Blues Under-21s coach, has recently been appointed as Burton’s new manager, and he has wasted no time in returning to his former employers to sign Webster.

He is yet to play a single minute of first-team action in English football, although he does have four EFL Trophy appearances to his name.

Everton are known to be open to player sales during the summer transfer window, yet it appears that they are trying to make a major addition in attack.

The Toffees are allegedly being persistent in their efforts to secure a deal for Marseille forward Illian Ndiaye, formerly of Sheffield United.

Although the French giants were prepared to pay in the region of £18m for the Senegal international last year, he contributed just four goals and three assists from 44 appearances in all competitions.

According to L’Equipe, Everton want to bring the 24-year-old back to the Premier League over the coming months.

Should Marseille agree to sell the versatile attacker, they would allegedly be wanting to recoup the fee that they paid Sheffield United.

That said, with Marseille missing out on European football for next season, it is plausible that they may have to be open to lower bids.
