Manchester United transfer news: Crystal Palace ‘set’ Marc Guehi asking price

Manchester United reportedly learn the asking price for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United have reportedly learned Crystal Palace‘s asking price for England defender Marc Guehi.

Having decided to keep Erik ten Hag as manager, Man United co-owners INEOS will now turn their full focus to the club’s summer transfer plans.

Man United’s new-look hierarchy are looking to bring in a central defender following the departure of Raphael Varane.

There is also a possibility that Victor Lindelof could be sold this summer amid interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Man United recently stepped up their pursuit of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, submitting a £35m bid which was swiftly turned down by the Toffees.

The Red Devils are still continuing to pursue a summer move for Branthwaite and are likely to return to the negotiating table with a second offer.

However, they are reluctant to throw all their eggs in one basket and will continue to keep tabs on alternative defensive targets.

Guehi is among those who has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it would take a significant bid to prise him away from Selhurst Park.

According to The Telegraph, Palace have made it clear that will not entertain any offers below £65m for Guehi this summer.

The report indicated that the Eagles will only consider selling Guehi if he asks to leave when he returns from Euro 2024 in Germany.

Palace reluctant to part ways with England defender

The former Chelsea centre-back is also believed to be attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool after impressing during his time at Palace.

However, the Eagles are still keen to retain the defender’s services, especially as they face a fight to keep Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

With Guehi set to enter the final two years of his contract, Palace are hoping to reach an agreement over a 12-month extension which would at least put them in a stronger position if it comes to negotiating a potential sale.

The 23-year-old was included in England’s Euro 2024 squad after producing a high level in his 25 Premier League appearances last season.

Guehi played the duration of Sunday’s 1-0 win over Serbia and is likely to start his country’s second group game against Denmark on Thursday.
