Arsenal transfer news: Gunners ‘offered chance’ to sign Liverpool flop

Arsenal will reportedly be offered the chance to sign a Liverpool flop if an Italian giant follows up their interest in a defender during the summer transfer window.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Arsenal may reportedly be presented with an opportunity to sign a player who endured a calamitous spell at Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

Having narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title, Mikel Arteta is now hoping to make numerous changes to his first-team squad.

Acquiring the services of a new central-forward is at the top of the Gunners’ priority list at this stage, but that search will go on after Benjamin Sesko signed a new contract at RB Leipzig.

However, while there are certain players who have been made available for transfer, Arsenal may also have to fend off interest in players who are valued members of the squad.

Jakub Kiwior holds that tag largely due to his versatility with the Poland international making 18 starts and 12 substitute outings during 2023-24.

Despite that relative lack of game time, Kiwior continues to have admirers in Serie A, where he previously represented Spezia.

Juventus have just appointed Thiago Motta as their new head coach, a manager who was in charge of Kiwior during his time at his previous club.

Reports have indicated that Motta is interested in securing a reunion with the 24-year-old over the coming months as he bids to help Juventus dethrone Inter Milan next season.

According to TuttoJuve.com, Juventus would look to use Arthur in a part-exchange or swap deal if they pushed ahead with trying to sign Kiwior.

Arthur is best known in English football for his dismal stint on loan at Liverpool in 2022-23, where he made just one brief substitute outing all season.

Nevertheless, the former Barcelona man has since kick-started his career, making 48 appearances during a season-long loan stint at Fiorentina.

While Fiorentina possess the option to buy the 27-year-old, they are yet to press forward with that, and Juventus are seemingly eager to ensure that they get value for money for the out-of-favour player.

Would Arteta be interested?

Juventus allegedly value Arthur in the region of €20m (£16.9m), a fee that, in theory, feels excessive given the player’s experience at Liverpool.

That said, the report adds that Arteta is an admirer of the player and may be interested in adding him to his engine room.
