Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood ‘agrees’ terms with European giants

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood allegedly reaches an agreement with Juventus over personal terms.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has reportedly agreed personal terms with Juventus ahead of a potential move to the Italian giants during this summer’s transfer window.

The Englishman spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Getafe, making 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in the process.

Earlier this year, Man United’s new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggested that there could be a route for Greenwood back into the first team at Old Trafford.

However, he is widely expected to leave this summer, with a number of clubs, including Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, credited with an interest in his services.

Juventus have seemingly emerged as the favourites for Greenwood’s signature, though, with the forward seemingly set to continue his career in Italian football.

Juventus ‘agrees personal terms with Greenwood’

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Old Lady have now come to an agreement with the Red Devils academy product over personal terms.

However, Di Marzio claims that the two clubs are yet to settle on the player’s valuation, with Man United wanting €50m (£42.3m) for his services.

Juventus, on the other hand, are only believed to be willing to pay an initial €30m (£25.4m) for Greenwood, with the figure potentially rising if various add-ons are met.

Greenwood scored eight times and registered six assists in 33 La Liga appearances during the 2023-24 campaign, and Getafe had been keen to keep hold of him, but the capital outfit do not have the financial power to bring him in on a permanent basis.

Greenwood’s Man United career is set to come to an end

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The Englishman was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was officially dropped in February 2023.

Man United had allegedly decided to bring Greenwood back into their first team last summer but were forced into a U-turn due to the strong response from the public.

The forward is therefore expected to leave Old Trafford having scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for the 20-time English champions in all competitions.

Greenwood, who was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football before his arrest, last turned out for the Red Devils against West Ham United in January 2022.
