SURE ODDS BANNER

Liverpool transfer target Ederson has revealed he “will think” about his Atalanta BC future after the Copa America.

Ederson is attracting interest from across Europe after playing a key role in Atalanta’s Europa League-winning season.

The midfielder made 53 competitive appearances throughout the 2023-24 campaign, chipping in with seven goals and one assist.

Ederson ultimately helped the club clinch their first European trophy, reach the Coppa Italia final and achieve a fourth-place finish in Serie A.

Ederson comments on future amid Liverpool links

Atalanta now have a fight on their hands to retain Ederson despite the fact the Brazilian has three years left on his contract.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move, while there is also thought to be interest from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Having been called up to Brazil’s Copa America squad, Ederson insists he will “focus” on his work with the national team before he makes any decision on his future.

“It always happens when the market opens, that all the speculation comes,” Ederson told Spanish outlet AS. “Not only about my future, but also for many players. When I received my call-up, I told my wife and my agents: ‘Look, now I’m going to the national team, so you have to deal with what comes and what doesn’t come’.

“Now I’m going to focus on the national team, it’s my first call-up, so my head has to be one hundred per cent there. And then I will think about my future.

Ederson reveals he is “happy” at Atalanta

Despite being the subject of much speculation, Ederson is content with his current situation after winning the first major trophy of his career.

“I am very happy at Atalanta,” the 24-year-old added. “I’ve just won a great title, I’m very well integrated. My future is something that doesn’t worry me.

“What worries me right now is doing well here with the Brazilian team, leaving a positive impression because it is my first call-up, making sure everyone knows me here just like everyone knows me in Italy. I am very focused, very happy, trying to make the most of this moment with the national team.”

Ederson made his international debut in Saturday’s Copa America warm-up game against Mexico, playing 84 minutes in the 3-2 win before being replaced by Joao Gomes.

Brazil will begin their Copa America campaign on June 24, before they wrap up the group stage with games against Paraguay and Colombia.
