SURE ODDS BANNER

Mason Greenwood has dropped a major hint regarding his future with Manchester United amid interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has been absent from the Red Devils’ lineup since January 2022, following his arrest over allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour, all of which he had denied.

In February 2023, the Crown Prosecution Service dismissed all charges against Greenwood, citing the withdrawal of key witnesses and the emergence of new evidence that rendered the likelihood of conviction unrealistic.

Last summer, Greenwood was sent on a season-long loan to Getafe, where he has managed to score 10 goals and provide six assists in 35 appearances for the La Liga club.

Greenwood preparing for life away from Manchester

While new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe had not ruled out a return to Old Trafford for Greenwood, recent developments suggest that the 22-year-old may be preparing for life away from Manchester.

According to The Sun, Greenwood has placed his £2m mansion up for rent, suggesting that he has no intention of returning to it after his current loan spell with Getafe comes to an end.

The report adds that Greenwood is apprehensive about returning to Manchester as he fears it could disrupt the life he has built in Spain with his partner Harriet Robson and their daughter, Summer.

The six-bedroom mansion is believed to be fully furnished and available to rent immediately for £14,000 per month.

Owing to his performance this season, the attacker has been linked with several clubs across Europe in recent weeks, including Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Napoli.

In addition, Getafe are eager to extend his stay in Madrid, but they are likely to struggle to meet the Red Devils’ valuation of the player.

It is understood that United have set a price tag of around £40m for their academy star, with the intention of utilizing the funds to facilitate a squad rebuild next season.

Greenwood’s current contract with the Red Devils runs until 2025 with the option of a further one-year extension.

The 22-year-old made 129 appearances for Man United, scoring 35 goals and providing 12 assists during his time at Old Trafford.
