Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Saturday afternoon’s La Liga clash with Cadiz.
Thibaut Courtois is set to make his first appearance of the 2023-24 campaign in Real Madrid‘s La Liga clash against struggling Cadiz on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgian had been in line to return from an ACL injury at the end of March, but it was then announced that he had suffered another knee injury in training, which would require a further operation.
Courtois has now worked his way back to full fitness and is expected to be in the XI when Real Madrid return to league action against Cadiz this weekend.
David Alaba is the team’s only confirmed absentee at this stage, with the Austria international not expected to be back until the end of 2024 due to a serious knee injury.
Dani Carvajal was suspended for the first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, which finished 2-2, but he will be back in the squad for this match.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to ring the changes ahead of the second leg of their last-four clash with Bayern at Bernabeu next week.
Eder Militao is again set to feature from the first whistle, while the likes of Fran Garcia, Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz, Dani Ceballos and Joselu should continue in a league XI, having all started against Real Sociedad last time out.
Real Madrid will be confirmed as champions on Saturday if they overcome Cadiz and second-placed Barcelona fail to beat third-placed Girona later in the day.
Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Nacho, F Garcia; Camavinga, Modric; Guler, Brahim, Ceballos; Joselu
