Midfielder Conor Gallagher hints that he is hopeful over soon penning a new long-term contract at Chelsea.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has indicated that he expects his contract situation to be “sorted out” in due course.
Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the Blues in May 2022, they have adopted a policy where they wish to tie down as many players to long-term deals as possible.
As it stands, though, Gallagher is one of the minority who have less than two years remaining on their current terms, a scenario that has effectively left him available for transfer.
That was seemingly the case during the summer when the England international was heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge with a number of clubs monitoring his situation.
However, head coach Mauricio Pochettino has always rated Gallagher’s qualities, making him the third-choice captain behind Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Furthermore, Gallagher has been an ever-present in the starting lineup, contributing four assists from his 12 Premier League starts and generally leading from the front during Pochettino’s high-press.
While there has been little talk of negotiations taking place behind the scenes, the 23-year-old has acknowledged that he is hopeful of soon committing his long-term future to his boyhood club.
Speaking to reporters while on international duty, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Gallagher said: “I’m sure that will get sorted out, everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them.
“The fans are brilliant and I’m loving right now and I’m sure it will get itself sorted out.”

Referring to the uncertainty over his future in the summer, Gallagher added: “A lot was going on in the summer, a big transition in the club, a lot of players coming in, a lot of players leaving.
“I was lucky enough to stay and be a part of the manager’s plans, whatever he wants me to do I have been doing and I will keep working as hard as possible for him.
“It was a crazy period in terms of ins and outs at Chelsea and I had conversations with the manager and he expressed that he liked me as a player and I was in his plans and I was really happy with that.”
Gallagher has now made a total of 60 appearances for Chelsea since the beginning of 2022-23, the rest of his senior career being spent out on loan at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace respectively.
