Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion ‘learn Roony Bardghji asking price’

Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly learn the asking price of Copenhagen’s 18-year-old attacker Roony Bardghji.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Copenhagen will reportedly demand a fee of around £30m to sell in-demand teenager Roony Bardghji amid interest from several clubs including Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The highly-rated attacker, who turned 18 on Wednesday, has been a first-team player for Copenhagen since making his professional debut for the Danish champions in November 2021.

Bardghji has already made 66 senior appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 15 goals including 11 in 25 outings so far this season.

The youngster has featured in all 15 of Copenhagen’s Danish Superliga fixtures this term, scoring seven times to help the club climb to the top of the table.

Bardghji elevated his status on the European stage when he netted a dramatic 87th-minute winner to help Copenhagen beat Manchester United 4-3 in a thrilling Champions League group-stage contest earlier this month.

Bardghji was born in Kuwait City but has represented Sweden at Under-17 and Under-21s level and has featured five times for the latter, scoring once.

The teenager has a contract with Copenhagen that expires in December 2025, and his long-term future at the club has recently been questioned amid reported interest from several European clubs.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano stated earlier this month that a number of top European teams were in attendance to scout Bardghji in Copenhagen’s aforementioned triumph over Man United.

A recent report claims that Chelsea are contemplating a move for the attacker, while Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Ligue 1 outfit Nice have also been credited with an interest.

Football Insider claims that Brighton are the latest club to be plotting a move for Bardghji, but any interested suitors will be required to fork out in the region of £30m plus add-ons to tempt Copenhagen to sell the starlet.

The report adds that Copenhagen are keen to keep hold of Bradghji, but Brighton are confident they can persuade the youngster to further his development on the South Coast.

Brighton have built a reputation of recruiting and developing young players who have had plenty of success in the Premier League, and have either become key members of Roberto De Zerbi‘s squad or been sold on for significant profit.

In the summer, Brighton sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a British-record £115m less than two years after signing the midfielder for just £4m from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

Meanwhile, Evan Ferguson is one of Brighton’s standout teenagers to emerge as a key first-team player for De Zerbi, and despite reported interest in his services, the striker recently committed his future to the club by penning a long-term contract until June 2029.
